Beyond WiFi is dedicated to developing rural tourism towards generating employment for the locals in the picturesque Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. We assist villagers in building a sustainable working model so that they don’t need to migrate to urban areas, and instead have the opportunity to find gainful and rewarding employment where they belong. Meet the Team
Nitin
Associated with the tourism, hospitality, and adventure sports industry for over two decades, Nitin is an entrepreneur who has founded and is part of several ventures. An intrepid explorer with an unquenchable thirst for wilderness adventures, extraordinary landscapes, and spiritual expansion, he is also a photographer with a poet’s heart, a digital creator and visual storyteller, professional cyclist, sportsman, and fitness enthusiast. Nitin has been exploring the Kumaon region – on foot, trekking, cycling, off-roading, camping, glamping – for over a decade. Familiar with the breathtaking beauty, culture, cuisine, and hospitality of the villagers, he is accepted by the locals as a man whose word is his bond. His latest venture ‘Beyond WiFi’ is built by leveraging his network of trusted local partners to provide the perfect vacation experience to individuals, families, and groups in Kumaon. He has organised events and done many photoshoots for adventure sports, cycling rallies, and national and international motor sports events. An avid nature and landscape photographer, blogger, visual storyteller, and vlogger, he also helps support the continued education of under-privileged children. As a professional cyclist, closest to his heart are the grueling trans-Himalayan cycling expeditions that test physical and psychological endurance, determination, and drive in the punishing, but starkly beautiful terrain of Leh-Ladakh. Cycling professionals and enthusiasts look forward with great anticipation to Nitin’s incredibly rewarding cycling tours, ultra-rides, and self-supported ultra-bike packing (cycling) rides that take groups from a host of beautiful and interesting destinations of historical and cultural importance, to the burning heat of the Thar, and on to the high altitude freezing cold desert of Leh-Ladakh.
Dinesh
An ardent nature lover with many years of exposure in operations, logistics, product and experience development in the travel and hospitality industry, Dinesh has handled high-end inbound and domestic travelers for over two decades. With an excellent eye for detail, it is second nature to him to use his natural talent and expertise in unique and creative ways to provide unforgettable stay and cultural experiences for guests. Dinesh is the self-possessed, quiet observer whose behind-the-scene input adds personality to every experience he designs and space he works in. Intuitively aware of what would appeal to weary travelers, to kids, families, groups, and even pets, he is ever conscious of altering and amending not only the ambience, but also customizing itineraries according to the requirements of guests in ways that are subtle, insightful, and amazingly sensitive. Very strong in his core specialty areas, he brings invaluable expertise and innovative ideas to the team. He has now been running boutique homestays in Kumaon for over six years, hosting individuals, families, and special interest groups including groups on self-drive trips, cycling tours, museum visits, and university trips. Hailing from the historic and scenic town of Srinagar, Uttarakhand, on the banks of river Alaknanda – a town that sees constant tourist flow on the Char Dham yatra – Dinesh naturally gravitated to exploring new places and living for the experiences! Dinesh’s other loves include traveling, motor-biking, hiking and walks, alone or as group leader. Giving vent to his creativity in other ways, he has also dabbled in theatre and done tourism-based projects to study and improve the socio-economic conditions of local villages.
Kamal
A fitness fanatic and a great storyteller who loves interacting with people, Kamal has been an avid traveler from a young age. With two decades of work experience in the travel and tourism industry handling finance and accounts, he is exceptional with data and number-crunching. Logical and focused with an impressive ability to cut to the chase, Kamal has a knack for finding smart means to accomplish things. Confident and practical, he has never shied away from following his heart to seek and create new opportunities for himself. A people’s person, he greatly enjoys regaling guests of all ages and from all walks of life with his wonderfully entertaining stories! He is ever excited to explore new places, meet new people, sample authentic local cuisine, and reinvent dishes. Widely traveled, he believes that travel is an education in itself; exposing him to new cultures and ideas, giving him the opportunity to learn new things, and improve himself in unique ways. Mentored by industry experts in his first job at a Chartered Accountancy firm helped him hone his natural talent and improve his facility with finance related data. He combined his love for travel with his finance expertise when he worked with travel and hospitality companies gaining experience in transfers, inbound and outbound tourist packages. Among his other pursuits are playing and watching cricket and experimenting with cooking – interests that support his mantra of fitness which he defines as a state of physical and mental wellbeing that allows him to function efficiently and effectively in work and leisure activities.
Prashant
When the going gets tough, the tough gets going! Prashant is a compassionate person, a thinker, fitness enthusiast, an adventurer and headstrong, someone who strives to work hard and smart and live a meaningful life to the fullest! With a big appetite for adventure and exploration, Prashant embarks on different kinds of thrill seeking excursions from time to time to perpetuate the adrenaline rush! He has climbed mountains in various northern states up to 5500 Mts, cycled across the barren, rocky plateaus, mountains and dry valleys of Trans-Himalaya as well as the fiery Thar Desert of Rajasthan. He is accomplished in Golf, Cycling and Running. He has played golf at the national level as both Junior and Amateur Golfer and his accomplishments include winning several local and club-level competitions and qualifying for positions at national level tournaments. The chase of thrill never ends short for him as he frequently goes skydiving, rock climbing, motor biking, caving and much more! After almost 4.5 years stint in Consulting, with acquired best industry practices and work ethics, he built his own venture in the automobiles industry and is current heading a premium motorcycle brand outlet and also involved in the Real Estate development and tourism business. He takes a lot of interest in the evolving business trends but prefers his lifestyle be orbited around nature and environment. He shares the same vision as other Beyond Wi-Fi members that of boosting rural tourism, homestays lifestyle and eco-centric living.
