Responsible Travel

We encourage slow travel, getting more off the grid and exploring countryside, giving back to nature and local community.

Our Perspective

At Beyond Wifi, our endeavor is to promote sustainable travel. Our model to develop homestays and mountain retreats is based on basic values of being responsible towards environment around. Curated activities and experiences around the properties are aimed to connect closely with nature, interact with local community, and learn about the local culture and traditions. We strive to bring sensible travelers to our destinations and not the regular tourists. We encourage slow travel, getting more off the grid and exploring countryside, giving back to nature and local community.

Approach & Practices

Preserving traditional houses: We identify traditional pahadi homes, take it on lease, restore and convert them into boutique homestays / mountain retreats. Once the lease tenure is over, we give it back to the local owner family and help them to run it in future.

Employment opportunities for locals. All the staff at our properties is from this region. We train them into various departments to run the property.

Reverse migration. A few of our staff were working in big cities. We got them back and engaged them into managing the properties closer to their homes.

Helping local economy. We try and procure as much local stuff as possible from the village folks, like milk, curd and veggies. All our properties have a small shop to promote regional handicrafts and produces sourced locally.

Design and aesthetics of our homestays and mountain retreat is always in accordance with terrain and local style.

Locally sourced materials are used in restoration and construction of these homestays and mountain retreats. Masons, labors and artisans engaged are all from the same region.

Immersive and engaging traveler experience. Activities and experiences curated for travelers are all aimed to being more responsible towards nature around, engage and interact with local community, learn and understand local culture.

Local Cuisine. Food is something which can make or break your holiday. At our properties we try to promote local food which is highly underrated yet very delectable and nutritious. We also experiment our local ingredients to make fusion cuisine.

Avoid single use Plastic. We provide either the natural spring water or RO water to our guests. There are steel flasks in all our rooms.

Water conservation. We have installed rain water harvesting system at most of the properties.

Safe waste management. For waste disposal, we have kept separate dustbins in Kitchen and public areas. The wet and kitchen waste goes to making natural compost. Dry waste is periodically taken to the nearby government waste collection facilities.
